Lactate threshold testingThrough the determination of lactic acid in the blood, we receive information regarding the percentage of carbohydrates that are burned anaerobically. Since the performance levels are affected by the existing lactic acid in the blood, an increase of lactic acid will negatively influence performance, forcing the athlete to reduce exercise intensity levels. These tests are performed on the treadmill or ergometer bike. The initial resistance load and difficulty grade is low and is gradually increased until maximum capacity is reached. The blood lactate levels during the stress testing are measured to establish the personal optimal anaerobic training zones. This increases the effectiveness of endurance training and fat burning and reduces the risk of excessive demands. The training and exercise recommendations are typically reported as pulse ranges that can easily be monitored with a heart rate monitor.
